Ingredients
  

Main Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef or any ground meat of your choice
  • 1 medium yellow onion, diced
  • 4-5 cloves garlic, minced
  • 30 oz frozen shredded hash browns
  • 1 can cream of chicken soup
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup or use 2 cans of any cream soup you like
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 8 oz shredded sharp cheddar cheese (plus 1 extra cup for topping)

Seasonings

  • 1-2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1-2 tsp onion powder
  • 1-2 tsp black pepper

Topping

  • 1-2 cups French’s crispy fried onions

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large non-stick skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat.
  • Once the beef is browned, drain excess fat and add diced onions and minced garlic. Cook until the onions are tender.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the browned beef mixture with frozen hash browns, cream of chicken soup, cream of mushroom soup, sour cream, and shredded cheese.
  • Add the garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.
  • Transfer the mixture to a greased 9x13 inch casserole dish.
  • Top with additional shredded cheese and crispy fried onions.

Cooking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes or until bubbly and golden on top.

Notes

You can make this casserole ahead of time and keep it in the fridge for a day before baking. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
